What Makes Vancouver Special?
Vancouver is a waterfront city with the Coastal Mountain Range as a backdrop – geographically beautiful with a mild climate and it is a cosmopolitan city. The most spoken languages being English and Chinese.
The first Europeans to discover the city were the Spanish in 1791 (a number of streets named after them – Cordova, Cardero, Valdez and Narvaez) and British Captain George Vancouver in 1792 but it took another 100 years for it to be settled, after the completion of Canada Pacific Railway which brought in Chinese to work on the railway.
